This Course will cover a basic understanding of neonatal jaundice, including who it affects, why it happens and our approach to diagnosis and management of these infants,
In addition, there will be case study presentations looking at different cases of neonatal jaundice and approaches taken to treatment and management
Learning Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, the clinician will be able to:
- Describe bilirubin pathways through the body
- Discuss differences between physiological and pathological jaundice
- Understand breast feeding associated jaundice and management of this
- Describe intensive Phototherapy and how it is administered in jaundiced infants
- Describe the mechanism and use of Exchange transfusions to manage neonatal jaundice.
